Unless youre completely worn out on the series, youll find this to be one of the best action games on GBA. MM fans will notice that even though MM&B is a completely new adventure, many stage elements and two bosses were lifted from Mega Man 8. Theres also plenty of replay value, thanks to the 100 collectable CDs scattered throughout the levels. MM&B adds a new twist to this old formula with a second playable character, Bass, who has different moves and abilities. Lead the Blue Bomber through a well-designed stage, blow up enemies, and smash a wacky boss robot (whose weapon you snag).

If youve played any of the 2D Mega Man titles, you know what to expect here. Mega Man & Bass brings us back to the series roots and gives us what made the little blue guy so popular to begin with: a great, if slightly derivative, platformer. It is the ninth numbered game in the original Mega Man series. After all, its been six years since Mega Man 8 (for PSi and Saturn), the last real Mega Man game. Mega Man 9 is a 2008 action-platform video game developed by Capcom and Inti Creates. More importantly, though, are the availability of three Special Stages to download.

With all the Xs, Legends, and Battle Networks, its easy to forget what made the Mega Man series so great in the first place. Mega Man and Proto Man are available by default, and Bass is purchasable.
